Hi everyone,

so I replaced all 4 tyres today, the wheels when I took them off didn't appear to be particularly tight.

I have tightened them to 80lb's when refitting, however the wheels are minilite type[minitor) and have alloy spacers (1 per wheel) so is this a little overkill and maybe 60lb's would be sufficient?

I have interrogated the internet can't find a definitive answer, hopefully I haven't dug myself into a big hole with this query and look forward to some wisdom.

Thanks all, Pete

My 3a with alloys and a small spacer is 65lb/ft

Thanks for the reply Hamish, I'll certainly wind them back off then and I must remember to reset the air in the tyres as they put in 30psi in each as I had been running 26 front and 28 rear which was fine.

Thankfully I posted a link to the Brown Bible in the technical section of this forum   In the “ Bonanza”

Sadly not of use to those with non standard parts.

here is a page grab.

I have Panasport wheels (which are also alloy), and asked Panasport their required torque.

The answer was to use the value stated in the WSM. Be aware these values are for not-lubricated nuts.

Be careful and aware the torque is far more with alloy wheels

Minilite's with a small spacer, 60Ftlbs as I have stainless wheel nuts (with no available torque data),  Checked with a calibrated wrench once a month. No problems in the last decade including many long raids fully loaded

Don’t know if it makes any difference ( just means they are checked a lot)

but I have 3 sets of allows with one for road tyres and 2 racing sets do they are on and off like a fiddlers elbow
