Peter Cobbold Posted April 16 Report Posted April 16 This weekend I shall be saying goodbye to YTU5M. After 47 years' ownership, beginning with ten years' daily driving, a DIY rebuild, and mods including a supercharger the time has come to put the 6 up for adoption. Family members Steve and Tom will be the new owners. There is an element of "Ill health forces sale" in letting the 6 go to a new home: Parkinson's is not conducive to 'get out and get under'. However I intend to satisfy my unabated mechanical interests by buying a single-seater. More when it is delivered.... Peter Quote
John Morrison Posted April 17 Report Posted April 17 Good that it is staying close, Peter. John. Quote

Motorsport Mickey Posted April 17 Report Posted April 17 Peter, You've added much to the TR community here on the forum. Your guidance on many subjects including non TR and health items has been invaluable to posters and readers of the TR Forum , and your release of YTU5M to family members is encouragement to many here on the way to both "keep the faith" to TRs and retain a connection within your family. I hope you continue to post here and retain the friendships and interest in TR affairs and your other interests for many years. best regards Mick Richards Quote
RobH Posted April 17 Report Posted April 17 Bit if a wrench moving the car on after so many years Peter but at least you know it's going to a good home. I trust we will continue to benefit from your valued words of wisdom on TR and other matters non the less ! Quote

Had one planned on Vitamin D, but PD interevned! The new owners Steve and Tom (father and son) intend to use the 6 for track days and hill-climbs. So they are keen to build the water injection to my design principles. I will continue to post on the forum, albeit less frquently. Peter Quote

My interest in TRs is unabated, it just has to be less hands-on than in the past. At age 80 I should not complain! Peter Quote

Chris, The TR6 will be developed by Steve and Tom with water injection, giving the equivalent of ca 105-107 RON. The single 2" SU will need fettling and modifying, mainly to overcome unwanted transient leaning during transition from cruise to wot. I appreciated your help in trying to find SU engineering documents and hope the IWE talk met with your approval. Peter Quote

On 'other matters' I am still very active: 'time anomalies' in the paranormal point to new physics. Peter Quote

The shared aim is to develop the supercharging with water injection to give the equivalent of 107 RON. My role will be with advice and ideas rather than hands-on fettling. When I discovered that distant family members ( at great grandfather level) we interested in the 6 it was a great relief that the project could continue. I certainly hope to contribute to the forum in future. The health item I have promoted seems to be working to slow the Parkinson's, touch wood. Peter Edited April 17 by Peter Cobbold Quote
